Production of Digipak

The original photo I used for the front cover of my Digipak was taken on the shoot for the main task:

I first placed this photo in Photoshop in order to edit it, I knew that I wanted to make it black and white with just the red cups in colour. In order to do this I selected the red cups, inverted it and then made the photo black and white.

I then placed the edited photo into InDesign and added text over the top.

For the back cover of the Digipak I took a standard wallpaper from google images, placed it in InDesign and added text, a barcode and our company logo on top. The font used for all the text on the front and back cover was Bernard MT Condensed.

I then moved the front and back cover onto the digipak template, here I placed and filled a grey circle to form the CD, I decided to keep the design for this simplistic as the front and back cover were quite busy. The inside I chose to add the lyrics to the song.

Colour Treatment

The editing for the final video was split into three sections with three main colour schemes; orange, pink and blue. The use of these colours would resemble different scenes from the bedroom to the party and to the outdoor scenes.

For the indoor shoots I used a fast colour corrector to add an orange tint to the footage, the reason for this was to resemble the day time as the footage was actually shot later in the day. The use of a luma curve also enabled us to brighten up the shots. I put both these effects on the first clip and then copied and pasted them both to the following clips in order to keep consistency.

For the party shoots I used the fast colour corrector to add a pink filter to the shoots, this pink represented the fine side of youth and was fitting for the themes shown of teens having fun at a party. The luma curve was used to darken the scenes as they were originally shot in the day time.

The outside shoots provided a problem since the footage came out darker than anticipated, therefore I had to use the luma curve to brighten up shots. I also used the fast colour corrector to add a blue filter on top of these shots to contrast with the pink shots previously. This also symbolises the stereotypical side of youth which is more serious than the party scenes portrayed previously.

Final Magazine Advert

The photo used for the magazine advert was taken on shoot for the main task. The reason I chose this specific shot was because I felt that it captured the overall theme of the video which is youth. The mise en scene with the graffiti on the wall along side the group of friends, I think, showed a stereotypical side of youth. I took inspiration from the magazine advert of Lana Del Rey's new album which I analysed in the planning process. I took inspiration from the positioning of the text and what to include.
